Installing windows 8.1

Yo guys!

Windows 8.1 is in the mail and I've got to install it. I've got windows installed on the one harddrive and my games on the other. A few questions:

What's the best way to keep all of my data i.e. will windows wipe all drives or just the one I'm installing it on?

Do I have to reinstall all of my programs?

What do I need to remember/think off?

ROFL

the only harddrive that will

the only harddrive that will be formatted is the one youre installing windows on. BUT you will need to reinstall every program again since the registry keys are not present anymore. I would adise you to do a complete clean up and only back up your important files.

An installation will not

An installation will not format all your data, and you will not necessary have to reinstall all new programs. Ofcourse, it works faster with a clean install (old files will be kept in windows.old directory) but you can also upgrade from your old installation, which will keep all data/installed programs. What OS are you upgrading from?

Then you can perfectly

Then you can perfectly upgrade it without having to reinstall everything. Why did you buy Windows 8.1? If you want everything to be faster, do a clean install, if you want the new features, upgrade it.
