Name change

Lately I've been feeling that I don't like my current username (I know it is cheezy to post it here but really need another point of view). So the questions are as following: do you have any good suggestions of usernames (preferably something history related)? Have you got any tips for changing usernames, if it's hard the get rid of your old call sign? And lastly do you think I should just abandon this idea and continue on?

Thanks in advance

//oskol (for the moment at least)

HenryTheVII?

HenryTheVII? Wink

jk, but "DesertFox" perhaps? I know nobody would like to be named after a Nazi panzer general but Rommel was one of

the nazis who didn't support the holocaust. And he was a great tactician.

I also think he was developing plans to backstab Hitler.

That makes DesertFox a great and history related nick Smile

A username should mean

A username should mean something to you, not just be something picked for you IMO.

All my usernames across all my online accounts for various things mean something to me.

For example XPT700 is the model of my favouite guitar I owned at that time.

Thanks for the tips and as I'm in love with history pretty much anything will do. However Kiwi's point is solid, so I tried some viking names but almost everyone is taken (except the ones you cant pronounce in english) so I'm going to continue searching! Your post got me inspired, TacStick!

On the other hand, I,

On the other hand, I, personally like the nicknames that have nothing to do with any known/living thing or simply - means nothing in real life. Speaking of my name, there is no word Jenx in the dictionary. If I take my friend Exhibition for example - pls no haterino exxi <3 - Exhibition as a name sounds like the user was too lame to come up with something better, so he opened the dictionary and he named himslef after the 1st word he tought was cool enough (or it is just me, because the word exhibition translated to slovenian language means RAZSTAVA - sounds strage, doesnt it?) Big Grin On the other hand, EXXI is a fenomenal nickname, that I really like Big Grin I always liked your nicname, oskol (does it mean anything irl in ur language), but if you're not happy with it, i wont say dont Smile

In my defense, at that time i was 13 and all about the cool english words and thus XPT's posts defends my choice xD. Secondly i no longer see Exhibition as my nickname. Rather Exhibition being my 'name' and Exxi my 'nickname' Wink

For you oskol try going back to the roots of this. Why did you choose oskol in the first place? Why isnt it 'cool' enuph anymore?

Walnuts it's very funny that

Walnuts it's very funny that you brought this up, actually made an emblem of the union flag this very afternoon! Thanks for the tip, I'm leaning towards this!

oskol is a combination of my first and last name (Oscar and Kölfors, 99 is the year I'm born).

I think my father came up with this when I was between 10-11 so it's growing old, but on the other hand I kind of identify as oskol and not anything else so I will probably be bad at responding as it's going to take some time to get used to Big Grin

It's "O-ld-skol"

It's "O-ld-skol" ROFL

Sorry for all the jokes everywhere, but yea, I can't come up with something, I used my last imagination for "CYRO" ROFL

I have had 3 different usernames through the time, the first one, "Alex63zz" was something that I randomly came up with. (Alex - My name, 63 - My dad's birth year (I had no clue of that when I created the username) and zz - No clue of this, but I used it for the second username.)

The second one, "__TRiNiTYZZ__" was something that my best friend came up with, and I thought it sounded pretty cool. I had no idea what "Trinity" stood for, and as soon as I realized it was something religious, I changed to what I have now (mostly due to that I believe in science) As said before, "zz" even appeared in this one, for no reason at all, just memories I think.

The one I have now, was just something that I mixed the words up a bit with. I started out with "Cryo" (because of cool science stuff) and mixed the words up. The end ressult, "CYRO" was something that just sounded right, so I went with it. It has no meaning and it has nothing to do with people (birtnumber, name and so on).

So yea, that's my username story :3

Time for my username story

Time for my username story then :

DownToZero / nubsDTZ - I started using this nick when I was around 12 years old and started playing Counter-Strike (1.3 i think).

Everyone had these "cool" (derp) and cocky nicks and I wanted to be even cockier! DownToZero was in my opinion a reference to my enemy's healthmeter but unfortunately I wasn't very good at the game so I switched to "nubsDTZ" or if we spell it out NoobDownToZero.

n0bb3 - I started to get pretty good at Counter-Strike (1.5) and figured out that pwning AWPers with the scout while basically nicking noob was even more cocky, hence name switcheru!

meskHest - This one is a little weirder though, mäsk is a product (that taste like crap, but gets you drunk) you can get when brewing alcohol at home, it's more or less something in between liqeur and beer. Häst is the swedish word for horse, and somehow I found it hilarious tinking about a horse that's only in it for the mäsk.

TacStick - This can be translated into many things. Tactics that stick, The tactical stick (baton),  TacoStick (well, tacos on a stick sounds cool) and Tacos that's sticky.

It's also very usable to describe stuff: fantacStick, crapStick... the list goes on!

I think as everyone else has

I think as everyone else has said its really upto you, wether the name has some relevance to you or to your interests (such as XPT's name). As long as you like what you come up with Im sure we would all like it too.

For instance I got my nickname 'Riesycup' from my first name being 'Ries' and the 'ycup' was added by my first football coach, so when I was like 5-10 I was usually reffered to as 'Riesycup' at football matches. So as you can see the name has meaning to me. Not that people call me that anymore, but I just adapted it to being my alias ever since I began playing Club Penguin xD.
