So most of you that know me will know I'm pretty big on my cars. Recently, I bought a new one...in Japan...so it's being imported over to the UK.
As I go to a lot of car shows etc and plan on taking this new car, I wanted special show plates for the car which would be a direct copy of the car's original plates back in Japan where it was made and driven up until I came along!
So the car's original number plate is shown below:
I'm needing help to clarify and ensure I get this right.
Obviously, I can work out the numbers...
But specifically, I need help working out the two characters on the upper part of the plate that come before the "300" and the single character that comes before the "24 - 86"
Based on some research I think the upper characters are: 浜 松 Which relate to the area in which the car was registered after being sold when new (Shizuoka, Hamamatsu).
And the closest match to my untrained eye for the lower character was: そ
But I'm pretty unsure about this one!
Any help would be great
Maybe this is a better upscaled version?

if you can get a better quality picture you can use goolge to make a reverse image search or to make a search suggestion using google tab.
Awesome car btw and you know it'll work otherwise a dude in Japan will have to go sepukku

Best quality pic of the plate I have sadly. They are all terrible.
Anyways, some helpful peeps have managed to work it out so it's all good! Thanks
Ima ask some contacts of mine, gimmy a day
Oh and gratz on the new car! How much did it cost you? (incl import and certificates etc)
From my american bud in japan:
Its 'so', そ. I think it's an organization method within each city. Like groups A through Z but using Japanese alphabet. The Kanji is a region, the 300 number is a vehicle classification like passenger car, the そ is a group probably by city within the region, and then the rest of the numbers identify the actual vehicle.
Im still awaiting a reply from my japanese friend
Japanese friend:
Maybe it is selected by buyer freely:)
If he has a daughter whose name is そら, he may choose そ.
So we're pretty sure its the character 'so' which doesnt have a meaning itself. Its like our alphabet, A or H.
I know what each of the symbols stand for and what they mean relative to a car, buts more the actual characters I was worried about getting wrong
So thanks for confirming the characters, case closed
And to answer your question on cost: £14700 for it to be drivable in the UK (not including insurance or road tax)
Damn, you got that money? Im so jelly xD.... so jelly. Dat rotorary sound it gives. You gonna modify it or keep it stock?
It'll be kept fairly stock for now, considering I have barely any money now. Mods will come in time
