Monitor advice wanted

One of the less discussed topics on our humble forum: the monitor.

I currently have the Iiyama E2208HDS which has served me well for over 5 years day in day out, for multiple hours a day and was worth €120 back in the day (On a side note, the top is getting strangely hot nowadays).

So after currently having upgraded my PC i was wondering about:
-getting a 144hz monitor for €300, the Asus VG248QE and perhaps later upgrading it with a G-Sync module,
-or get a new 60Hz (random) monitor around €150 probably,
-or keep this one i have atm.

(I feel like option two is stupid anyways...)

What would you reccomend imagening im competetively playing CSGO on over 144 FPS?

FYI, Im only testing the waters and not yet making decisions.

For the heat issue, i have a second screen 4:3 resolution ROFL that gets warm aswell and that one is even older. Could it just be that old monitors tend to be hotter?

Cheers for reading!

If you play CSGO or nay

If you play CSGO or nay shooter for that matter you will benefit from a higher refreshrate. especially with a game like CSGO where miliseconds matter you will have an edge over a 60hz peasant like me. although being reallistic the only game where you are going to get 144 fps constantly is CSGO. With a 760 you will not get 144 fps stable on battlefield. BUT it will make a big difference in CSGO and Battlefield as well since you will be able to see more than 60 fps.

G-sync will get rid of stutters and tearing as well. Plus if you look into the BenQ models they have technology that makes darker area's lighter so it will be easier to see enemies in the dark. but it doesnt make the whole picture lighter.

I kinda have a feeling I have discussed this with you before. Also to anyone who dares to start the argument that we cannot see beyond 30 fps Dash I say GRRRRRRR Spiteful

I have the BenQ 27" 3D LED

I have the BenQ 27" 3D LED XL2720Z (link). I am satisfied with it except that I wish it could have a higher resolution for office work etc, but for games it's brilliant.

This is what the "black" technology Dynamic was talking about.

The Black eQualizer Gives You Razor-Sharp Visibility

Poor visibility and judgment can cost even the most skillful gamers their game. The Black eQualizer color engine technology is designed to offer an unprecedented level of control and visibility.
Dark scenes are brightened without over-exposing the bright areas to preserve vital details, enabling gamers to spot their enemies easily in critical combat and react quickly in any situation.

I dont know if i want to kill

I dont know if i want to kill the scenery, but it is definetely worth looking at! (benq dark stuff). Also, which benq would you suggest? Asus only has one flagship 144hz monitor, but i read and searched that benq has like 5 different. what is the difference between them and why one over the other. And why is the price it has worth the effort?

For the discussion: yes dyn, we had this discussion about the human eye part and i agreed with you fully after the 'image whenever something changes' stuff. so dont worry, here im just asking for the monitor/tech side of it, we didnt cover that in our discussion. Smile

Thanks for the info guys!!! Anyone else have different opinions? Do you think its worth it if you take into account that indeed CSGO will be the only one in 144Hz, or will it be a good future investment for future games/hardware?

I've thought about a new

I've thought about a new monitor for a while, but I've not got the funds for such a venture quite yet. I would be looking for a mix of greater than 60Hz (ideally 120/144) and higher resoultion than 1080p. Other than that, I'm not too bothered. G-sync sounds good, but too expensive for me to justify currently.
