So, while I'm still saving up to buy a new crib, there is nothing stopping me to start to plan stuff right now.
Tech Stuff I already have:
- Gaming PC
- HTPC / Media Center (Intel NUC) to play digital media (can be controlled with own wireless keyboard/mousepad combo, smart phone and Ipad)
- Ipad 2 (planning to upgrade)
- 2 Android smart phones (1 currently unused) (HTC Desire HD & Samsung Galaxy S3)
I also have gotten a car (Ford Fiesta 2004) where I have a DAB+ device that have bluetooth, Aux in/out, FM transmitter.

It depends on how much money you want to spend. In the Netherlands we have a lot of systems that allow you to control lighting, locks, curtains, whatever.
I don't know about the availability of such products in Norway, but the most adaptive technology for this is 433MHz controlled devices. I use a Raspberry Pi to control my lights (some build in receivers, some socket receivers). This allows me to always check the current state (my switches are also senders) and control the lights with my smartphone ("Ok Google, turn on the lights" :D). You could check if there are any of these products for sale in Norway, if they aren't there's a lot of other software/hardware solutions on the market as well.
You could also use one of the unused phones to use always on voice control.
