I was so tired of having to play naked (almost naked, because of the heat my ATI GPU generates) so I just ordered a new GPU, the EVGA Geforce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Hybrid. Although we old people thrive in warm weather, lower temperature was important to me, so I went for this water cooled GPU. Not the cheapest card, hope I made the right choice!
PS: I'm amazed that a company with such an ugly website can make such a beautiful card.
Very nice! And if I may ask, what is the resolution for your monitor? I'm guessing at least 1440p, ahhh the envy!
How desperate did you need the card? Because at the end of this year the Polaris and Pascal GPU's will come out, and that will be the biggest performance upgrade we'll see in a long time. Don't know if you can wait though

Unfourtunalty no, I'm still using a 1080p screen. Can't upgrade everything at once or the wife will notice
I guess a new monitor is next on the list.
I knew some reason for me to regret this would appear as soon as I made the purchace
I'm sure this card will keep me going for few years though.
It's like buying a new smartphone. Better stay away from all tech-news for the next 6 months or you'll regret the investment. Don't talk to me about GPUs for the rest of the year, Kiwi!
yeah man, would be a shame to see all that horsepower go to waste, invest in a 1440p gsync 120 hz screen, and your life will never be the same again
Technical stuff: The lower temps will be because of the better GPU, not because of the water cooling. Yes your GPU will run cooler, but it will have to disapate the same amount of heat that an aircooler does.
My stuff: Omg im jelly!!!
That makes sense, but this heat is funneled straight out of the chassis through the rear fan radiator. My current card keeps a 20-25 degrees higher temperature under load and this heat bleeds out into the internal enviroment of the machine, giving a higher temperature in the PC as a whole than a water cooled unit will do. At least that's what I read in the tech review.
that is indeed true. My aim was indeed the external heat that will heat your room, the internal parts should not be affected much if you have good airflow, but yes, there is an increase internally on other components
Though the total decrease in heat from the computer won't be that big, I hope the overall effect at least will allow me to wear a shirt after 3 hours of gaming
i'd opt for underwear first but its your choice c:

a little bit late to the party, but we know have proof thanks to linus:
It did have a significant effect on room temp, but it must come from the fact that the new GPU doesn't need to work that hard to run Siege. Which also has resulted in a lot less noise. So my wife is happy too. Happy wife happy life.
