Best and worst defense operators

I pretty much agree with what Matimi0 is saying in his video although I try and choose an operator that complements what my team mates have chosen. Which means I often end up with Bandit, Castle or Mute.

I agree with most of the list

I agree with most of the list, but i can't rate Rook as a top tier defender. Sure he is always a decent pick and goes well in any squad combination, but i don't think he is a good roamer. He is slow, makes alot of noise and has a very large character model, all working against his potential as a roamer. His weapon does not outweight those cons.

I would much rather have him as an objective anchor.

Myself, i always play as the lurker, so i prefer the more agile defenders like Jaeger, Bandit or Smoke.

Well Rook is by far the best

Well Rook is by far the best defensive operator for objective defense, as you said. 3 point of armour, best special ability and a very solid weapon. Then mute or bandit. Castle and his barricades are also very viable, but the UMP is absolutely horrendous. I like to roam as well and am very successful with Smoke (I mainly use smoke bombs to cover off broken windows or to relocate + the pure monster of a sidearm as the mac-10 is Big Grin Other than that, Jeager because of the main weapon, but he has a bit weak armour. Kapkan can be useful cause of his camo, but is a bit loud with 3 point armour, so you really need to move slowly. Oh and I almost forgot Frost, her sniper shotgun and not one, not two, but three welcome mats ROFL As for attackers, every team needs to have Thermite, Thatcher (or Twitch) and a Shield operator and here, I would actually rather go with Montagne instead of Blitz, who is ridicilously easy to kill. Fuze, Ash, Sledge and Glaz are all solid choices too, it mainly comes down to with whatever gun you perform best. I mainly find Fuze's AK-12 and Thatcher's AR-15 easy controllable and with high damage. Then there's also Twitch's Famas and Ash's R4 and I find the latter to be one of the best if not THE best weapon in game.

Jenx, blitz's model has been

Jenx, blitz's model has been changed last patch to reduce his oversized head which was causing survivability issues!

His head was made smaller and his shield made slightly taller and wider at the top, therefore he should be on par with other shields in terms of vulnerability.

For that reason, I reckon he should be maintained as the shield of choice.

As far as i'm aware there is really only one operator that is literally terrible and that is IQ.

Everyone else has their niche moments, or redeeming factors, and can provide good combinations with other operators providing the team is smart enough to pick synergies instead of just what they want.

There are definitely some "carry" picks, such as doc, fuze, thatcher, smoke, and thermite to name a few. These operators have outstanding primary weapons and ammo pools, at least moderate survivability, and permanently useful unique abilities.

I am aware of that and I still think montagne's extended shield is OP AF if he's played properly. I never play as a shields so I cant really be a judge, BUT from what I've seen (enemies and teammates) Montagne can just stood in the doorway with his extended shield but without c4 and with covering fire from his teammates he can block a whole entrance or just make a way in. But maybe it's just cus kiwi get's killed with Blitz so many times I started to hate it ROFLROFL

Well, they might have improved him since the 2.0 patch, but it's definitely not at the same level as 1.0. I used to play Blitz a lot, and I would only die when I was being stupid. Since the 2.0 (and 2.1 patch still) my Blitz K/D has dropped a lot, because he can now easily be shot in either his feet or his arms, while that wasn't possible (or at least really hard) before the 2.0 patch.

I've given up on the class, even though I liked it very much. I'm starting to train myself for Thatcher and Thermite, but I might also try Montagne. I just really like my breaching capabilities...

I can't say I've had

I can't say I've had particular issues with blitz at any patch.

Positioning easily eliminates the exposed arm, such as having the exposed pistol arm tucked behind a doorframe until the enemy start getting low on that mag minimises risk, and staying crouched obviously eliminates the leg shots providing you are far enough away that they don't just shoot you over the top of the shield.

Blitz is a way more active role than other shields, and with the right combination of flashes and movement a suitable window to lower the shield and pop a headshot will present itself.

Montagne and the other shields, only have the indimidation/distraction factor and generally lead to death from montagne's teammates rather than directly montagne himself.

I think the main thing to

I think the main thing to take away from this is that, when played correctly and as part of a synergistic team composition, every operator is viable apart from IQ IMO.

A more important thing is probably more basic things like using the lean mechanic properly, holding entrance points correctly, too many defenders 'roaming', adaptation of operator picks to enemies previous round picks, and general improvement of gun control.

There is a bug with Montagne

There is a bug with Montagne where his shield turns all black and you can't see through it. It happened to one of us while playing together and even the dead players spectating Montagne couldnt see through the black texture bug, rendering him unable to use his shield at all.

Not sure how frequent this bug is, as I do not often play Montagne myself, but I will stay away from him until I see a fix for this issue.

Other than that, XPT700 mentions multiple factors that far outweight the operator picks. Game mechanics and team communication should be solid before one worries about squad composition.

problem with shield as a

problem with shield as a tactical class lies in the teamplay aspect. The shield has to not only anticipate enemy movement (by aiming the shield defensively) but also has to move in tandem with the player who is behind him. I've had many plays in which I'm covering the shield dude, shield dude gets scared or shot at, moves out of the way and I take the bullet spree.

Shield is never a solo class, but requires disciplined teamplay.
